💡 Grob's Attack is a very unusual opening in which White pushes the g-pawn to g4 on move one. It's named after the Swiss International Master Henri Grob, who analyzed it deeply and played hundreds of correspondence games with it. Because 1.g4 weakens the kingside and does little to control the center, theory rates it among the weakest first moves. Still, opponents are often thrown off by the unfamiliar positions, and it's full of traps, so it's enjoyed as a surprise weapon.
