Also known as the Robatsch Defense, it lets White occupy the center with pawns and then attacks that center later with pieces. The main difference from the closely related Pirc Defense is that Black delays developing the knight to f6. It's flexible and less bound by fixed theory, but there's also a risk of being squeezed by White's broad center.
