Trompowsky Attack

💡 The Trompowsky Attack is an opening in which White plays 2.Bg5 after 1.d4 Nf6. It's named after Octávio Trompowsky, the Brazilian player who was active in the 1930s and '40s. White targets Black's knight from move two, steering away from setups Black is familiar with. It doesn't require a huge amount of theory, so it's easy to learn and is played by everyone from top players to amateurs.
