London System

💡 The London System is a setup for White in which, after 1.d4, the bishop goes to f4, followed by e3, c3, Nf3, Nd2 and Bd3, building the same formation almost regardless of what Black does. Its name comes from a tournament held in London in 1922, where several players used this setup. Because there's less theory to memorize and the structure is solid, it's popular at every level, from beginners to top players. It has become even more popular recently after top players such as Carlsen played it.
