💡 The Blackmar-Diemer Gambit is an aggressive gambit in which White offers a pawn with 1.d4 d5 2.e4. Armand Blackmar of New Orleans tried it in the late 19th century, and later the German player Emil Josef Diemer studied it extensively and refined it into its modern form. In return for a pawn, White aims for quick development and an attack along the f-file. It's rarely seen at the top level, and theory says Black can hold, but it remains popular in amateur games.
