Moving the same piece again this early usually breaks opening principles, but there's a plan: the more eagerly White pushes pawns to build a big center, the more overextended and vulnerable that center becomes. Black then strikes right at it with moves like d6 and dxe5. Alexander Alekhine shocked the chess world when he first played this in the 1921 World Championship. Its surprise value is enormous!
